Letter from CAC President Jennifer Lin
Dear CAC members:
Happy New Year!
I would like to take this opportunity to formally announce Carol Kocher to be the new President for the Chinese Actuarial Club, effective January 1st, 2010.
For the past three years, I have enjoyed working with the CAC volunteers to serve our members. In addition to our regular social activities such as the new year dinner and summer picnic, we also organized several professional development seminars and co-hosted receptions with SOA International Section at SOA Annual Meetings. All these events are geared to provide the networking and professional development opportunities for our members. I am very proud to see what the club has accomplished!
Carol has been a long time volunteer for CAC. Prior to taking on the presidency for the club, she is the current Boston chapter president and the club¡¦s public relation officer. Carol has contributed the development of the club in many great ways. Under Carol¡¦s leadership, the Boston chapter¡¦s membership has expanded rapidly and the sponsors for CAC¡¦s events are also at a historic high. Recently, she has successfully organized an open forum and a social gathering for CAC at the SOA annual meeting. These events have brought the local and oversea members together. With her in-depth knowledge of CAC history and the broad industry connections, she will continue to lead the club forward.
I would like to congratulate Carol for her new role, wish her the best for this new endeavor and ask all of you to support Carol in developing CAC.
Thank you very much.
Jennifer Lin

Dear members and friends of CAC,
It is time for us to elect the 2009 SOA Governors and Section Council again. As usual, we have a few active members that are running for the positions this year. These candidates are willing to contribute their in-depth actuarial knowledge to solve professional issues, and are not afraid to bring a unique and global perspective to the actuarial field. They are definitely worthy of your consideration when you cast your valuable votes on the SOA website.
The Elections begin on August 3 and end on August 24, 2009. Do not forget to cast your vote!!!

From Shirley Shao, President of the Chinese Actuarial Club ("CAC")
It is with my greatest pleasure to announce that Jennifer Lin has been nominated and voted by the CAC Committee members to be the new President of the CAC effective March 31, 2007.
Jennifer has been the president of the CAC- NYC chapter for the last several years. Under her leadership, the NYC chapter has expanded its active membership and provided social and professional development opportunities to CAC members residing in the tri-state area. In addition, she has been actively involved in every aspect of the CAC strategies and took on the leadership in their executions too. She is currently leading a group of volunteers to revamp CAC website, I sincerely await with joys to the new cyber-community for CAC members to make connections.
I also have the honor to know Jennifer in person. She is upbeat, proactive and willing to take on challenges. She works hard to accomplish the objectives and fulfill them with positive attitude and great smiles.
I look forward to working with Jennifer in transitioning my responsibilities as the CAC President in the next few weeks. I have recently accepted the Chief Actuary's position at China Life and have since moved to Beijing. I pledge my support to her and my commitment to the CAC from Beijing, China.
CAC is proudly to introduce Jennifer Lin as our new President! Please join me to congratulate Jennifer in her new role!
Sincerely yours,
Shirley Shao, President of the CAC
