Senior Health Benefits Analyst opening in California. Interact directly with clients and other professionals in providing an integrated and thorough approach to client matters. Responsible for advanced technical work and interface directly with internal and external clients and providers. Major areas of technical and leadership responsibilities include: Technical: analysis of complex technical data with regard to benefit plans for self-funded and for insured clients; pricing of benefit changes for all health coverages based both on experience and manual rating; preparation and analysis of vendor proposals, including health, stop loss, life and disability coverages; conducting renewal analyses, budget projections, and vendor negotiations; acting as liaison between client and third party vendors regarding contract, service and coverage issues. Leadership: reviewing all work prepared by junior-level analysts for accuracy and quality standards; managing projects, and providing senior-level overview on required action steps; mentoring and training entry-level staff in team environment; reviewing written documents such as memoranda, e-mails, proposals, etc. for accuracy and clarity; coordinating with consultants to provide strategic health benefits consulting services. Minimum of 5 years of life and health underwriting experience including plan design and financial management; detailed understanding of current plan design alternatives and healthcare trends; understanding of ERISA, COBRA and other health related laws, claims appeals, and other compliance products such as amendments, SPD’s, plan documents and notices; experience with retiree health benefit design.
