Firm in the northeast has a need for a Disability Pricing Actuary. The incumbent would perform varied actuarial functions for Group lines of business with an emphasis on extraction and summary of data to support development of analysis of mortality, morbidity, persistency, and expenses. Other functions include assistance in pricing, product development, and aggregate rate adequacy analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop summary of data to support quarterly loss experience analysis for distribution to Underwriting and Claims. Support development of in depth loss experience analysis to drive continuous improvements to manual rate basis and rating/underwriting structure and practices. Gather data to enable reporting of case level adjustments to manual rate basis. Develop summaries of persistency results by selected parameters. Gather and summarize data needed to support periodic expense reviews. Develop reports summarizing financial results by critical parameters including sales office, broker, and client. Develop and maintain actuarial databases required to perform desired analyses. Provide data summaries to support pricing and product development projects as required. Provide ad hoc support to Sales and/or Underwriting as required. State filing and compliance duties. Work with team to develop system efficiencies and streamline current processes. QUALIFICATIONS: Programming skills using Excel and Access, Visual Basic or SAS. Development of spreadsheet and/or database applications. Attention to detail. Ability to work with all areas of the company, (i.e. Underwriting, Claims, Accounting etc.) Client is willing to look at a wide range of experience levels. Candidates must show progress or attainment of an actuarial designation (ASA/FSA).
