Database analyst opening in New York. Work in the Actuarial Department of a dynamic insurance company supporting the design, development, and day-to-day operations of the group’s financial reporting database. Hands on data scrubbing of data extracts from multiple sources including relational database tables, Excel files, etc; creation of Cognos objects to support report generation; optimizing database design and functionality; documentation of database design and procedures; Cognos, or in lieu of Cognos experience, an understanding of OLAP technology through familiarity with other OLAP applications (Hyperion, Business Objects, etc), knowledge of other MS Office products: Word, Access, Visio and the ability to interact with senior management in a professional manner. SQL Server (MS SQL Server 9.0/2000) – Knowledge of Management Studio, Query Analyzer, DTS, Stored Procedures, T-SQL; Excel (advanced spreadsheet knowledge, formulas, pivot tables, MS Query, etc); Ability to learn business and link with IT skills. Ability to understand current process/business needs and finding ways to improve efficiency. Background in the insurance industry and actuarial exams are ideal, but not necessary.
